What you need to know for better brain health.

The gut microbiome significantly impacts brain health through a communication network called the gut-brain axis. Current research demonstrates that gut microbes produce and metabolize neurotransmitters and hormones and play a significant role in immune system function and inflammation. An imbalanced microbiome can lead to chronic inflammatory health issues including anxiety, depression and cognitive decline. A healthy microbiome is supported through diet, oral health and lifestyle factors.

Dr. Beth Atlas joins us to detail the mechanisms that link the gut microbiome to dementia and mental health, offering key findings from research and what we can do to improve our gut microbiome for better brain and overall health.
