During Vibhu’s 20-minute weekly sessions, we’ll de-stress, rejuvenate and recharge the brain utilizing a practice inspired by Indian Kirtan Kriya (pronounced KEER-tun KREE-a). Kirtan Kriya has been practiced for thousands of years by people around the world and clinical research has shown that this non-religious practice can be a powerful tool for preventing or stopping Alzheimer’s disease, increasing all aspects of cognitive function, (perception, thinking, reasoning and remembering) and reducing stress levels while improving short term memory.

Myra’s 20-minute weekly sessions offer an eclectic mixture of meditation and breathing practices drawn from the traditions of Buddhist and Mindfulness Meditation.  With eight weeks of regular practice, meditation has been proven to cause changes in the pre-frontal cortex, the part of the brain that controls awareness, concentration, and decision making.  Meditation also helps break cycles of stress and anxiety, two emotions that can impair brain and body functioning. By learning and practicing these techniques regularly, you will experience greater clarity and increased well-being.

Even those who are not experiencing cognition issues will benefit from these healthful exercises.

Vibhu Nagral, health, wellness, and lifestyle medicine coachDuring August, Vibhu Nagral, a Sharp Again Naturally board member, will be leading the Awaken & Energize program. Vibhu is a wellness and lifestyle medicine professional with over 20 years of global experience in health education, yoga therapy, and coaching. With a career in both the US and India spanning private practice, corporate workshops and consulting with doctors/hospital networks, her current focus is brain longevity therapy. Her mission is to help the aging population improve cognition through yoga, mindfulness techniques, and evidence-based holistic health practices.

 

During September, Myra Oney will be leading the Awaken & Energize program. She is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and Reiki Master Teacher with over ten years in private practice. She believes that our best health is achieved by nourishing the body, mind, and spirit. She sees private clients and runs group wellness programs in-person and online. She also speaks, and does food demos and wellness education at corporations in the New York City area. Myra is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and a member of The International Association of Reiki Professionals and the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.
